In the supportive atmosphere of psychotherapy,
we gain insights to ourselves that place us back on the path to contentment and
well-being. Psychotherapy, specifically cognitive therapy, has been used successfully for decades to help people through life's crises. When it is combined with complementary therapies such as guided relaxation, therapeutic hypnosis, or training in mindfulness (being present in the moment), psychotherapy becomes an even more powerful tool for positive change.
The techniques I pass on as part of the therapeutic
process retrain the mind and body to a baseline state of calm confidence.
A peaceful mind boosts the immune system and helps us approach
crises and conflicts with strength and equanimity. Most importantly, the methods we work
with are easily learned and can be applied to any future problem you encounter
without continuing need for professional support.
I have found that this multidisciplinary approach works to
alleviate a broad range of problems, including:
anxiety, panic attacks and phobias, chronic pain and
illness, fatigue/insomnia, depression and bereavement, addictive behaviours, poor self-esteem, lack of
motivation, trauma following major life transitions, obsessive thoughts, and
excessive anger, frustration, or worry.
As the weight of limiting beliefs and negative emotions falls away, physical and mental energy is restored.
I am here to provide a nonjudgmental setting in which we can look at your problems from a different perspective, and help you discover what approach works best for you.

Biography
I am a native of Boston, MA, with a BA in psychology from
Smith College. I worked for many
years as a consultant in the field of health care before qualifying as a

Psychotherapy (NSHAP) in London.
Since then, I have had a private practice, first in Tuscany and more
recently in Rome, where I have worked with expatriate clients from many
different cultures and backgrounds.
I have
studied and
trained in a variety of therapeutic
methods, including cognitive therapy, mindfulness-based stress
reduction, therapeutic hypnosis, emotional freedom technique, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP),
psycho-kinesiology,
and
Buddhist psychology. I give occasional seminars in Tuscany on
mental and emotional well-being,
relaxation techniques, and awareness
meditation.
